You can select your roommate(s), or you can apply on your own and we can match you with other students. Applicants answer a short list of lifestyle questions to help in the matching process.

Instead of requiring all roommates to sign a joint lease, each person at BlockONE has their own individual contract, with one person per bedroom. This means you are only responsible for paying for yourself — not your roommates. Even if a roommate moves out or other bedrooms in your apartment are empty, you only pay the rate for your bedroom.

The spacious accommodations at BlockONE are available in studio to 4 bedroom floorplans, with available private bedroom-bathroom suites.

Yes, each apartment at BlockONE has a furniture package that includes a full-size bed, desk and chair and dresser drawers. The living room includes a sofa, chair, coffee table, end table and entertainment stand. Furniture packages vary based on apartment size and orientation. The standard term is August 18, 2027 to July 24, 2028, with payments made in 12 equal installments. Limited alternate dates are available; please inquire with our staff. Click here for a sample agreement.

Within 7 days after a Housing Agreement is signed, each resident is required to do one of two things: provide a qualifying guarantor (often a parent), or pre-pay the final 2 installments.

Yes. Residents can pay online 24 hours per day, by credit card or ACH electronic checking. BlockONE also offers automatic payment by either credit card or checking account — just fill out one page, one time and payments will be made automatically. Convenience fees apply for credit card and debit card payments.

Your living costs at BlockONE can be covered by financial aid, just like on-campus housing. Any available financial aid funds, after university charges are satisfied, are released to the student for non-institutional expenses, such as off-campus housing. These funds can be used to pay charges at BlockONE. Normal payment deadlines will continue to apply.

Nearly all the residents at BlockONE are students at Iowa State University and the per-person contracts are also designed with students in mind. BlockONE is an Equal Opportunity housing provider and welcomes applications from non-students and residents with children, at no extra cost other than regular charges for each bedroom space selected by the resident. In order to match roommates in shared apartments with college students, roommate consent is required for any occupant who is not a college student.

BlockONE has a monitored fire-sprinkler system, along with electronic locks plus individually locking bedroom doors. Community courtesy patrols are provided at select times. Management staff are also available 24×7 and can be reached by a 24-hour phone number.

BlockONE is a smoke-free community. A portion of BlockONE (The Edge) is pet-friendly in select apartments, subject to limitations on animals and breeds; the remainder of BlockONE is a no-pets environment.

BlockONE offers surface, covered parking and an enclosed parking garage for an additional charge.

BlockONE is conveniently located one block from the ISU campus, thus making it easy to walk or bike to classes and school activities. There’s also plenty of bike and scooter storage on-site.
